How to Use the Internet for Divorce

by Heath Hillman on Jul.08, 2009, under Advice to Couples

Divorce is never a positive issue. The thought of it alone scares some people especially those who see marriage as a lifetime commitment. For both couples and children, going through divorce means having to deal with a lot of emotional stress.
It can be very difficult to face the divorce process right after making the decision to end one’s marriage.  The decision making aspect may have been easy but the process that follows will surely be emotionally draining and time consuming.  Lucky if both spouses are civil towards each other, there is a good chance that negotiations can run smoothly for the benefit of everybody.  Unfortunately if the couples remain hostile towards each other, the divorce process may take a long time to complete and may entail a lot of expenses in terms of legal fees.
Couples who don’t have issues with each other and their children can get help from the internet in accomplishing their needed forms.  There are now several websites that offer downloadable divorce forms.  These forms are the standard ones and are considered valid by the courts.
This only means that you can make your divorce a do it yourself project in terms of the paper requirements.  By utilizing the services of these helpful websites, one can proceed with filing the divorce in less time and with less money involved.  Many couples who have turned to the online divorce forms were very relieved with their divorce. Not having to pay high attorney’s fees in just accomplishing the forms is happy news already.
In using the resources available on the internet, couples have a choice between downloading individual forms and ordering a divorce kit.  Those who prefer the individual forms will have to pay separately for each document which can make it expensive.  On the other hand, the divorce kit being offered online these days already contains the complete forms depending on a spouse’s filing status.  This is a more affordable option.
The basic forms included are the petition for divorce, answer to petition, waiver of acceptance of service, marital separation agreement, financial statement forms, child custody forms, petition for name change, certificate of corroborating witness, notice for hearing and certificate of divorce.  The petition for name change only applies for the wife who may want to use her maiden name again after the divorce.
Divorce kits may also contain frequently asked questions and answers as well as instruction on how to fill up the forms.  Ideally, it would be best to make copies of the different forms before filling them up. In this way, you still have an extra form to use in case you make a mistake in writing some information.  If you’re using the downloadable forms, though, it would be easy to have them printed right away at home or in your office.
With these online forms now within easy reach, divorcing couples need not worry too much about accomplishing their legal papers.  Perhaps the only basic requirement here is to know how to read and follow instructions carefully.

Do-It-Yourself Divorce Papers Can Be Obtained Online

by Heath Hillman on Apr.01, 2009, under General

The internet now plays a significant role in the divorce process. In which part you may ask? It’s in obtaining the required forms and filling them in with the proper information. With this latest technology, spouses who decide to finally end their marital relationship can have their needed support and convenience in just a few clicks.
Online divorce services have become a popular trend in recent years. But what is really the scope of this? It’s not entirely about the divorce being approved online. These services mostly focus on providing spouses general information on divorce and the forms they need in the divorce process at a very affordable price. The do it yourself divorce forms are easily down loadable on the site or they can be ordered for door-to-door delivery. They are available in various formats depending on the state where you live and they’re guaranteed to be valid for use in local courts.
Most of these online divorce services cater to the no fault or uncontested divorce. This means that both spouses have no disputes concerning their conjugal properties and their children. In this situation, couples can have their divorce granted in as short as 30 days because there’s no longer any need for one party to prove that the other is at fault. The divorce process then becomes simpler, more peaceful and less expensive in the end greatly benefiting both parties.
Divorcing couples can turn to various websites providing easy to use forms at the lowest cost. The websites help spouses gain a basic understanding of what no fault or uncontested divorce is all about and how easy they can file their required documents if they opt for this process.
Do-it-yourself divorce kits can also be availed of by couples if they’re not comfortable downloading the forms online. The kits contain complete forms depending on your filing status. Generally, the forms include the marital settlement agreement, divorce complaint, waiver of acceptance of service, financial statement form, child custody jurisdiction form, petition for name change, certificate of corroborating witness, final decree of divorce judgment and certificate of divorce. All you need is to fill these forms with honest information and then file them with your local court to start the divorce process.
There are three ways to obtain these forms for your utmost convenience. First, you can choose to download them right on the site or have them emailed to your mailbox. Second, you can order for a CD-ROM which will allow you to complete and print the forms in different word processing software in the comfort of your home. Thirdly, you can order for the kit which contains the traditional paper forms. The kit will be shipped to the address you specify on your order form.
It should be noted, though, that these do it yourself no fault divorce forms are recommended only to couples who have agreed on the most important issues involving their marriage and who are bent on going through a peaceful divorce process. For spouses who fail to settle issues such as the division of their properties and child custody, a competent divorce lawyer should be consulted. For financial matters, an accountant will be the best person to guide you.

Thinking about divorce, steps to doing it right.

by Heath Hillman on Mar.26, 2009, under General

If you are considering getting a divorce know that all relationships will go through hard times. It is the couples that realize this and stay together till the storm passes that have true bonds for life. I know not every relationship will survive but too often couples are ready to divorce as soon as the honeymoon is over. First make sure you have truly exhausted every means to stay together and communicate so things can get better. If staying together is not an option then you both should agree on this fact and try to begin making the hard decisions you will you will have to face to get divorced. Unless one party is abusive or unfaithful which in that case most people are so jaded that there only option is to square off with a lawyer. However most divorces occur simply because couples can’t get along anymore and stop communicating with each other. Most people say that it is too easy to get divorced these days, but the paperwork is easy, divorce is still hard, hard on everyone. The problem is that most people don’t realize how hard until they have gone through it. And may regret it since there spouse has moved on or does not regret it yet or at all. So make sure before you move forward that divorce is the only option for you.

Time to talk. It sounds strange to say that you need to talk to get divorced, and maybe you don’t, but you will need to talk to an attorney at 200 dollars and hour if you can’t talk to each other about the divorce. When a couple has decided that divorce is the only way, they usually begin to think of themselves and how they will provide for their new life and how it will affect their relationships with mutual friends and family. In this they tend to become stressed and become somewhat selfish with personal items and emotions. But this only leads to more bitter arguments and more separation. If couples could only realize that by actually making the divorce a give and take it could be over with sooner. Most divorces become bitter and drawn out unnecessarily due to one or both parties fighting over a few precious items. Try to remember that starting your life over is the goal not how many things you have, of which most will only remind you of your past relationship that you are getting out of anyway. If children are involved they are a concern, however most states now have a standard child support guide in place to minimize the fighting over the children and their well being.

Decide how you will go about getting the divorce paperwork completed. If you have a business or very large amount of assets then you most likely will need to hire an lawyer to draw up the paperwork since it will be very complicated and you would not want to miss anything now that could hurt you later. If you are like most couples today you may have a house and furniture, a few cars, and some money in the bank. Typically this can be split with a simple agreement between both parties. For these types of divorces the best method is to file an uncontested divorce using a do it yourself divorce kit. You can find these online divorce kits readily available simply by doing a search on Google or other search engine. Many companies offer cheap do it yourself divorce kits that are easy to use with step by step instructions. If you and your spouse have been able to agree on how to split your assets then this is the way to go since you will save thousands over hiring an attorney.
