Steps to your uncontested divorce.

by Heath Hillman on Mar.19, 2009, under Husband Talk

Speaking as a divorced husband I can honestly say that you are never completely prepared for a divorce. No matter how many scenarios you play out in your mind there will always be things you can not anticipate. The best solution for any divorce is to try to be prepared as possible, but knowing that you have not covered everything and that keeping communication open and trying to keep the situation as amicable as possible with your spouse will only benefit you in the end through helping to speed up the process and making the damage done as minimal as possible. I do recommend that if you and your spouse are on decent speaking terms trying to use the uncontested divorce papers available online to dissolve the marriage. The reason being is that sometimes bringing in a lawyer can pit couples against each other as your counsel will almost always advise to take a firm stance up front to safe guard yourself, but this can often lead to a breakdown in what communication you do have and cause the divorce process to be extended. This only benefits the lawyer and as the more time he spends on your divorce the more he makes. If you are still skeptical about the online divorce kits, don’t be. The uncontested divorce law was designed to help make things easier and being able to get your forms from the internet is just the next natural step in a forward progression. If you and your spouse really want to get divorced purchase divorce forms online and go through them together so you can both see what you will need to agree upon in order to complete your divorce.  Think of it as a practice run.  Don’t rush though it as you will have things you may not agree on.  Just remember to take time to step back even for a few days to let your emotions subside before you sit down with your spouse again.
